NALINI - What you touch you change... what you change, changes you

«Nalini,What you touch you change... what you change, changes you»

During this residency, I aimed to create a reverse portrait of the buriganga River - Not through it presence but it abscence of clarity and connection. I explored what it carries despite itself : pollution, neglect, and the fractural ink between humans and natures. The scribbling is woodcarved and it depicts this spontenous human reflex to doodle on a white sheat of paper when angry, borded, confused, occupied. it’s genaral human behavior to act upon a pure surface, to destroy it without paying attention. But in a macro lens, the scribbling is also a way to depict water and it’s movement. The pigment used are directly in link with dhaka culture and history. there are 4 wet pigment: green because of the flag color, yellow from tummeric natural pigment because of the mariage ceremony, black from the tannerie pollution where my residency was located and henna natural pigment from the tradition of body drawing. Then, there are also 4 dry pigment: Red because of the flag, and pink, orange, blue because of the rickshaw tradition painting those are the predominant colors.
